Donation Policy

The Warren County Genealogical Society (WCGS) appreciates donations of your time, materials that have genealogical content, and monetary contributions.  Past donations have greatly contributed to our Resource Library and Society.

Monetary Donation

Monetary donations help our society remain active and productive.  This type of donation is placed in our general fund unless otherwise specified and can be used for a variety of things ranging from purchasing or publishing new books to purchasing new equipment or software to be used in our library.

The Warren County Genealogical Society is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible.  If you wish to specify a particular purpose for your donation, please contact us for more information.

Donations are accepted through PayPal, credit or debit card, or via check (mail to WCGS, 406 Justice Drive, Lebanon, OH  45036-2358).  To donate using PayPal, please click on the gold "Donate" button below and make the appropriate choices on the page that appears.

If you would like to make a donation but not go through PayPal, please select one or more of the options below, Add to Cart, and Checkout on the website.  You can adjust the amount by altering the quantity you are purchasing or combining different selections.

Time Donation

WCGS is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization.  To be successful, we are dependent on volunteer time and expertise.  The following are ways to help our society by donating time:

  • Serve as an officer, board, or committee member

  • Give a presentation

  • Submit an article to Heir Lines

  • Help with one of our Projects

  • Work as a volunteer in our Resource Library

Genealogical Materials Donation

Family genealogies or histories related to Warren County or its residents, county histories, biographical sketches of residents, indexes, and abstracts or transcriptions of vital records, newspapers, probate records, or cemeteries are greatly desired.  CDs or DVDs will be accepted if they are not available in any other format.  Microfilms of genealogical data will also be accepted.  We also accept Family Group Records, Pedigree Charts, copies of the pages from Bible records, and photos of local residents.

Upon receipt, the donated material will be reviewed and a decision made regarding retention.  A letter of thanks will be sent to the donor or their heirs if gifts of the estate, and the material will become the property of the Warren County Genealogical Society.  Please include a signed donation form (see below) along with any submission.

Due to limited space, not all donations can be added to our collection.  Donors are encouraged to submit items in bound format.  Please organize records before submission.  Duplicate items may be retained if they are in better condition than what is currently in use.  Items not being retained will NOT be returned unless previous arrangements have been made.  Please indicate on the form your wishes regarding items not being retained.  If nothing is noted, it will be the decision of the society how the materials will be handled.  WCGS reserves the right to withdraw donations from our library collection if they become obsolete or can be replaced by newer editions.

Thank you for helping us support our members and the community!

AmazonSmile Program Ending February 20, 2023

Excerpted from the email dated 18 Jan 2023 from AmazonSmile:

"In 2013, we launched AmazonSmile to make it easier for customers to support their favorite charities. We were excited about the potential for the program and the impact it could have for many charitable organizations. We want to thank you for your partnership during all these years.

After almost a decade of running AmazonSmile, we learned that with so many eligible organizations—more than 1 million globally—our ability to have an impact was often spread too thin.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen that Amazon can have a more significant and lasting impact if we invest in specific areas and focus our philanthropic efforts in the communities where our employees live and work. We’ve started to see the benefits of a more focused approach with our investments in programs like Amazon Future Engineer and our $2 billion investment in building affordable housing in our hometown communities through the Amazon Housing Equity Fund—and we will continue to pursue and invest in other areas where we’ve seen we can make meaningful change.

We are writing to let you know that we have made plans to wind down AmazonSmile by February 20, 2023.  Until this date, customer purchases made via AmazonSmile will continue to accrue funds for your charity as normal."

So, THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who have made us their charity of choice with this program!  We are sad to see the program end, both as a recipient of the donations and as people who use it to donate to our charities of choice.

If you would like to help until the program ends:

An easy way to support WCGS as you do your shopping this year is to use the link to the right and shop at AmazonSmile.  AmazonSmile is a program that donates 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charity of your choice!  While it may not seem like much, those little bits add up!

You'll be able to tell if you are shopping from the correct page if you see the AmazonSmile logo in the corner of the page and "Supporting Warren County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society" below the search bar.

Using the link to the right takes you directly to our organization's page, so you don't have to hunt for it.  Your help and support is greatly appreciated!
