Need Help?

The WCGS Research Committee is a great resource!  Their knowledge of the area, history, and records available might be exactly what you need to help tear down that brick wall or obtain needed documentation to join a lineage society.  Using their services may even SAVE you TIME and MONEY!

Online Books

Information about online books we find helpful for research are listed below.  These are books available online that anyone can access, some of which are available for download.  More titles and links will be added over time.

American State Papers

The American State Papers is a 38-volume published compilation of executive and legislative records of Congress dating from 1789 to 1838.  This period can be somewhat challenging when trying to find records about our ancestors.  These books may contain valuable information that you will not find elsewhere.

Judy G. Russell, known to many of you as “The Legal Genealogist,” gave a stellar presentation at RootsTech 2024 on Unexpected Treasures:  Family History in the American State Papers.  You can still access it, even though the conference is over.  Below the video player is the link to download the handout for that presentation.

The button below will open a PDF with links to the online copies of the volumes.

**You must be logged in to FamilySearch to use those links.**
